About the role
The Warehouse Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing the inventory of equipment and supplies needed for the installation, maintenance, and operation of our fiber optic networks.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring stock levels, managing reorder points, and ensuring that the necessary equipment is available when needed.
- Keep track of fiber optic cables, routers, switches, and other hardware.
- Process and fulfill orders for equipment and supplies, coordinating with other departments to ensure timely delivery of materials for projects and installations.
- Ensure that all inventory transactions are recorded properly to track usage and manage stock levels effectively.
- Liaise with suppliers to place orders, track shipments, and resolve any issues related to inventory or deliveries.
- Conduct regular physical counts of inventory and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and recorded inventory to ensure accuracy.
- Generate reports on inventory levels, usage trends, and any issues related to stock management.
- Adhere to safety regulations and company policies related to inventory handling and storage.
- Ensure that the warehouse is organized efficiently, with inventory properly stored to facilitate easy access and minimize the risk of damage.
- Adhere to OSHA standards and ensure compliance with regulations.
Skills Required & Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry boxes or equipment, which can vary in weight but often ranges from 20 to 50 or more pounds.
- Standing and walking for extended periods, especially during inventory counts, organizing stock, and performing other warehouse tasks.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to retrieve or organize items on shelves or in storage areas.
- Occasionally climbing ladders or steps to access high shelves or storage areas.
- Working in a warehouse environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise.
- Keen attention to detail to accurately track and manage inventory.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Understanding of OSHA guidelines and warehouse safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
