Job Title: Spot Welder

Location: Hebron KY

Job Summary:

An employee in this position is responsible for various types of spot weld preparation, spot welding, and to manufacture products to customer drawings, specifications, or other instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned

Spot Welding Operations

  • Able to operate various Spot Welding Equipment.
  • Prepares spot welding set up per safety guidelines
  • Interprets mechanical drawings including weld requirement symbology
  • Works with conventional and precision measuring instruments
  • Performs process inspection, certification, and documentation
  • Maintains welding equipment through maintenance activities
  • Produces products in allotted time frame/ delivery standard

Department Support Functions

  • Work with department computers entering data
  • Work with other departments on scheduling
  • Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping

Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

Education:

Preferred Requirements - High School Graduate or GED and successful completion of Vocational School/ Machine Trade School Welding Course

Job Skills and Abilities:

Job Knowledge/ Judgment – Possess the practical/ technical knowledge required on the job including basic math ability and understanding of mechanical principles used in sheet metal fabrication. Able to read and interpret blueprints. Mechanical ability. Ability to use measuring instruments to produce parts within decimal and angular degrees. Must be able to do conversion to and from metric. Uses equipment effectively, and general understanding of production, work process and operations. Demonstrates proper decision-making skills when needed.

Dependability – Punctual, observes prescribed work breaks/ meal periods and has an acceptable overall attendance record.

Physical Demands and Physical Environment:

The physical demands and physical environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee must be able to frequently stand up to two to three hours continuously. The employee is occasionally required to sit, walk, climb stairs, bend, and stoop and must be able to reach and grasp parts repeatedly throughout the day. The employee is regularly required to lift 45 lbs minimum and up to 60 by self and up to 120 lbs. In a “buddy” lift.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to communicate verbally.

While working in this position, the employee will be exposed to welding environment requiring specific Personal Protective Equipment (shields, aprons, gloves, etc) and other fabrication shop conditions including exposure to dirt, dust, and noise. Extremes of heat or cold are common as is exposure to solvents and electrical energy. Employees must work around machinery with moving parts and mobile vehicles. Employees work closely with others. Some overtime is required, depending on demand and management discretion.
