Your Impactful Role

The Biologics Manager  will work with physicians, clinical team members, vendors and patients to streamline and grow the biologics/regenerative medicine service line at Peachtree Orthopedics.  The program   manager will serve as  a subject matter expert for all biologics offerings, stock and maintain the biologics lab and equipment, train staff on proper protocols and serve as a point of contact for patients, vendors and staff in coordinating care, billing/payment, scheduling and resource needs for the biologics program. The program manager  will maintain all equipment, and procure, inventory and stock all biologics program supplies. The program manager  will also work to ensure that all patients electing biologics/regenerative medicine treatments participate in patient reported outcomes studies.

  • Coordinate procedures and appointments with doctors, patients, vendors/reps, facilities;
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors/reps;
  • Serve as a resource for patients with questions re: clinical application, price, procedure and assist with care coordination;
  • Manage consent forms for all biologics procedures to ensure compliance;
  • Order, stock and inventory all biologics program supplies;
  • Assist with inventory and appropriate billing of biologics and injectables;
  • Trains staff on EMR documentation and authorization for biologics and injectables, proper use of biologics equipment (i.e. centrifuge), proper protocol for biologics procedures;
  • Manages the lab to include equipment maintenance, sterility and inventory;
  • Prepares and assists providers with biologics procedures;
  • Applies post procedure dressings, performs dressing changes;
  • Provides patients with educational materials regarding procedures, after care and expected outcomes;
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA standards regarding blood borne pathogens;
  • Monitors biohazardous waste and prepares for disposal;
  • Manages entry and compliance of patients into patient reported outcomes tool (Oberd) for research purposes;
  • Assists with new and ongoing research (data collection, analysis);
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information per HIPAA;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities  

  • Responsible for managing Biologic Department staff to include training, organizing schedules, ongoing education and departmental reviews.  
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. 
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of  2 years  lab or clinic experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related field (Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Med), or equivalent certification (RN, LPN, phlebotomist)
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills 
  • Ability to work independently
  • Program management experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations  

  • American Heart Association's Certification - BLS Certified
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science field and/or Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Lab Technician, or Certified Phlebotomist.

There is potential exposure to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. The employee frequently is required to move all extremities within a full range of motion, as well as stoop and bend at 90 degrees. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
