**About this Role

**

The Cell Leader position is an important role on the Silgan Dispensing team and is a great opportunity for those looking to advance their skills. Our plant help produce thousands of our dispensing products each day. So, it’s important to keep it running efficiently and continuously. The Cell Leader keeps our equipment operational by setting up, optimizing production runs and performing quality checks as needed for each machine. Here’s a list of duties that our Cell Leader performs on a typical day:

  • Required to run high speed assembly production machines/equipment as assigned.

  • Coordinates, with the shift supervisor and the production coordinator, scheduled work orders in priority sequence of build daily.

  • Supports the shift supervisor and ensures that any issues relating to start and due dates are brought to the attention of the shift supervisor in a timely manner for correction by acting with urgency and following escalation processes.

  • Addresses material issues noted with the shift supervisor and production coordinator and ensures that work orders/jobs are staged and ready to run when scheduled to do so.

  • Alerts supervision of staffing issues and works closely with other cell/team leaders to share resources.

  • Ensures that White Book requirements are complied with and that periodic audits are accomplished on the shift.

  • Motivates the team to accomplish and to remain focused on their goals and objectives, may provide follow-up to action items and interface with other departments in pursuit of closure.

  • Works to insure the maximization of OEE’s and Schedule Completions. Works with the team in the minimization of Changeover Times and the use of lean tools (Visual Management, Leader Standard Work, Standard Work, 5S)

  • Performs/Gives the direction for the evaluation/segregation of suspect product. Backtracks the origin of the deficiency noted and ensures full containment pending MRB/supervisory disposition.

  • Team/Cell Leaders oversee the training of team members in the cell to facilitate operator growth on the QVP ladder. Team/Cell Leaders will maintain the QVP material, assisted by the shift supervisor.

  • Assists the shift supervisor in the preparation of product engineering/ engineering sample requests.

  • Establishes effective communication (written and verbal) and supports or leads team/cell meetings.

  • The cell or team leader is the spokesperson for the team on their respective shift.

  • Supports 5S, TPM & SMED and other Lean initiatives as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

**Qualified Candidates must have:

**

  • Minimum high school diploma.

  • 3-5 Years work related experience.

  • Strong verbal skills and detail oriented.

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment.

  • Time management and organizational skills are essential.

**Preferred Candidates will have:

**

  • Willingness to assist other cross-functional groups based on needs.

  • Ability to work independently and be proactive.

  • Ability to analyze, interpret and report data.

  • Ability to prioritize work is essential.

  • Good oral and written communication skills

**Physical Demands (Reasonable accommodations provided):

  • Ability to lift and/or move 35 lbs.

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.

  • Physical requirements include but not limited to sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination and grasping.
