Job DescriptionJob DescriptionA local Rhode Island Organization is looking for a Mortgage Counselor to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for counseling those going through collections and foreclosure processes. Primarily, you will be responsible for ensuring minimal risk exposure to the organization.

Responsibilities of the Mortgage Counselor:

• Supporting the administration of the collections process in accordance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, sub-servicer requirements, and investor mandates.
• Communicating daily with delinquent borrowers, offering counseling and resolving defaults to minimize risk exposure.
• Handling both electronic and non-electronic one-time payments efficiently.
• Maintaining detailed communication records in the customer contact log and track loan statuses through the delinquency reporting queue.
• Possessing knowledge of CFPB regulations, including QRPC and requirements for tracking customer complaints.
• Assisting with customer service tasks, monitor delinquent loans, and provide support for assigned special projects.

Qualifications of the Mortgage Counselor:

• Three years of experience in mortgage collections and/or customer service roles.
• Familiarity with CFPB, FNMA, FHA, VA, and USDA regulations, along with guidelines from private mortgage insurers.
• Proficient in negotiation, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Completion of an Associate’s degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Preferred bilingual proficiency, especially in Spanish or Portuguese.
• Required to have a personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
