POSITION: Ramp Controller
REPORTS TO: Ramp Supervisor
LOCATION: HPN
AIRPORT: Westchester County Airport
SUMMARY: The Ramp Controller will support the Ramp Supervisor on shift in the preplanning of manpower to service the airlines in conducting the safe movement of aircraft and passengers. They will be responsible to facilitate positive control of ramp personnel within the assigned area of activity on the terminal ramp.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Utilize resources available to analyze information and formulate a plan that provides manpower and equipment to safely service airline flights in accordance with established arrival/departure times.
- Responsible for the assignment of aircraft parking locations in accordance with the County gate allocation system, to meet the service needs of the passengers and expedite the safe movement of flights.
- Communicate and coordinate the assignment of personnel to assure adequate work force is available to meet daily obligations.
- Responsible for monitoring the work schedule and assignment of breaks for ramp staff.
- Monitor weather, airport and ramp conditions.
- Liaise via phone and radio with County ground handling functions, airline representative and flight crews.
- Support airport operations during emergency, deicing or other requested times
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School Diploma, college preferred.
Requires responsible individual with well-established work ethic, initiative and detail-oriented professional standards. An individual who has situational awareness is necessary. Ability to focus on diverse responsibilities, manage complex scenarios and make prudent and mature decisions.
Flight operations are conducted 24/7/365. Day, and night, weekdays and holiday work is required. Extended shifts and/or callbacks may be necessary. Periodic shift rotation can be anticipated in order to maintain familiarity with all operational situations.
Ability to possess ramp, airport and aircraft knowledge and qualifications.
