Position: Chef de Cuisine

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Chef de Cuisine who embodies our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Hospitality, Accountability, Integrity, and Communication. As the Chef de Cuisine, you will play a pivotal role in leading our culinary team and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and service.

Core Responsibilities:

General:

  • Oversee and manage all areas of the culinary team, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Maintain back-office responsibilities including daily financials, payroll, and nightly service updates to the owners.

Financial:

  • Adhere to company standards to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor costs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial and personnel/payroll-related administrative duties.

Food Safety and Planning:

  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and kitchen maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and federal/state/local laws.
  • Maintain consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
  • Work with corporate officers for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies.

Guest Service:

  • Ensure positive guest service in all areas, responding to complaints and taking appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Manage shifts, including daily decision-making, scheduling, and planning while upholding restaurant standards.
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness of the restaurant.
  • Be actively involved in cooking and orchestrating service on the line daily.

Personnel:

  • Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
  • Assist the Corporate Executive Chef with hiring, supervision, development, and termination of employees as necessary.
  • Conduct orientation and training for new employees, explaining the "Togather Philosophy."
  • Develop employees through ongoing feedback, performance expectations, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure the restaurant is appropriately staffed for all shifts and maintain accurate employee files.

Personal Requirements:

  • Exhibit self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability, and an outgoing personality.
  • Possess the ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure food and service meet appropriate standards.
  • Handle pressures of coordinating a wide range of activities simultaneously.
  • Possess good communication skills for dealing with a diverse staff.
  • Attend leadership meetings and strategies to help grow the business and yourself.

Accountabilities:

  • Keep the Executive Chef promptly and fully informed of all issues, taking prompt corrective actions where necessary.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
  • Provide a favorable image of Cottonwood Restaurant and its establishments.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
  • Work hours may vary, with a typical work week of 50 hours, including holidays or emergencies.
