General Job Description:

  • Manage all aspects of the Machine Shop while maintaining outstanding product quality, customer service, safety, and agility.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies and manufacturing practices to increase company efficiencies.
  • Oversee maintenance of production equipment to ensure excellent operating condition and minimal machine down time through effective preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Work with Materials Planning to manage shop schedules and to optimize shop productivity.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to improve methods, tooling, and overall efficiencies of the department.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees through company directed safety programs, and compliance with applicable OSHA and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Support Company projects by participating on cross-functional teams. Ensure that company-wide initiative, business objectives, and timelines are achieved.
  • Promote teamwork, programs, and ideas that improve employee engagement and operational efficiency.
  • Train and mentor direct reports as required. Provide feedback by writing candid, timely employee performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, professional excellence, accountability and respect.


Requirements:

Education:

  • Four year bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from an ABET accredited program.


Experience & Other Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a production manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on CNC machining.
  • In depth knowledge of machining processes, including knowledge of turning, milling, grinding, and gear shaping.
  • Thorough knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Knowledge of best equipment maintenance practices.
  • Highly experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite to create documentation, spreadsheets, and databases to support Manufacturing operations.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent attention and respect for detail.
  • Proven professional qualities including strong initiative, integrity, and the desire / ability to work in a team environment.
  • Possess good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Promote a positive, professional atmosphere and support activities that enhance the welfare and morale of Beck employees.
  • Promote and ensure a safe working environment by demonstrating consistent adherence to Beck safety policies.


Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment requiring ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
  • Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone.
  • Use of keyboard and read from computer, screen and reports.
  • Work environment includes regular exposure to manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
