Job Title: Scientist II Molecular Biology
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Carlsbad, CA, 92008
Exact Schedule - M-F 9am-5pm
Pay Rate: $41.00 Hourly
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Works in a molecular biology laboratory setting and executes experiments daily within a team
- Performs detail-oriented experiments using next-generation sequencing and qPCR technologies
- Performs data analysis, prepares presentations and presents results to the team at group meetings
- Maintains a laboratory notebook and adheres to strict protocol guidelines
- Pays excellent attention to details and can follow complex molecular biology protocols
Key Competencies:
- Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of working collaboratively with team
- Detail oriented and can follow complex molecular biology protocols
- Work in a fast-paced environment
Key Knowledge:
- Molecular Biology
- Fundamental laboratory knowledge
- PCR and next-generation sequencing knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
Education and Experience:
- B.S. with at least 3 years of experience in an academic or industrial laboratory or M.S. with 2 years' experience in an academic or industrial laboratory
- Hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory: DNA and RNA purification and quantitation, PCR, quantitative PCR
- Ideal candidates will also have experience working in a clean room or PCR preparation hood, making libraries for, or performing next generation sequencing
- Experience in IVD product development, clinical genetic testing, or core laboratory facility is a plus
- Must be tolerant to change, ready to take on new challenges and open to learning new skills.
- JUSTIFICATION: Additional resources needed to execute experiments supporting CDx programs for CSD.
