 Position Summary:

The Mechanic supports all company production machinery, plant equipment, and processes to achieve Plant production goals and objectives.  Support includes installation, modification, and preventive and remedial maintenance to ensure efficient plant and machinery operation for quality production with minimum downtime. Must have excellent mechanical and electrical skills in project development and troubleshooting repairs and is a self-supervised team player with excellent communication and follow skills.

Essential Functions

• Perform job duties and conduct oneself in accordance with team values.
• Installation, relocation, modification, preventative and remedial maintenance of production machinery, minimizing downtime.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, and testing.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems and repair and/or replace defective components.
• Assist in the installation, relocation, and modifications of plant equipment.
• Maintain plant support equipment, including plumbing, electrical systems, and materials handling equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs to roofs, walls, doors, etc.
• Perform woodworking tasks, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing abilities involving demolition, remodeling, and construction.
• Assist the Maintenance Lead and serve as a backup in their absence.
• Coordinate routine preventative maintenance schedules.
• Obtain technical information, order replacement parts, and perform machine installation as necessary.
• Ability to properly operate a motor vehicle for company transport

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

• Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Manual dexterity is necessary.
• Must be able to use hand jacks and motorized stocking machinery.
• Must be able to climb stairs/ladders, bend, stoop, and push carts.
• Must be able to reach above head level, stand on feet most of the day, and lift.
• Must be able to travel from one building to another when necessary
• Demonstrate self-motivation, reliability, and dependability.
• Must possess an eye for detail and a willingness to follow directions.
• Must possess a high degree of safety consciousness due to potential exposure hazards from chemicals and lethal voltages.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The hours of work are Monday through Saturday. Sunday and off-hours availability is needed in case of emergencies or higher production volume needs. Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Education and Previous Work Experience

• The candidate's work history must reflect experience in maintenance positions in an industrial environment with an emphasis on electronics.
• High mechanical, electrical, and electronic aptitudes are required.
• Experience with pneumatic technology is required.
• Experience with HVAC and/or plumbing preferred.
• Understanding and proficiency in reading schematics, logic diagrams, and proper test equipment usage in electronic troubleshooting are required.
• Proven ability to read basic blueprints required.
• Proven understanding of safety regulations and knowledge of lock-out tag-out.
• Knowledgeable in the usage and correct operation of common hand and power tools
• Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and instruments is required.
• Advanced mechanical knowledge and experience with industrial machinery are required.
• Requires extensive knowledge in industrial, electrical, and electronics, including digital and analog

Report all food Safety incidents to the Quality Assurance Supervisor or Production Manager.
