Job Title : Peer Navigator

Status : Full Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt), 37.5 hours per week.

Location : Fraser, MI. 48026

Salary : $19.00 per hour

What is a Peer Navigator?

A Peer Navigator is a person who has lived experience in receiving services and/or supports for a substance use condition. Prior home visiting involvement is preferred. The Peer Navigator will provide peer support to pregnant and postpartum people who have been identified as having risk for substance misuse. Service provision will focus on connecting families to needed community resources including home visitation programs.

Description of responsibilities:

  1. Provide an individualized assessment of identified families eligible for Peer Navigator Pilot.
  2. Assess for and facilitate the completion of a Plan of Safe Care on every identified family.
  3. Advocate on behalf of persons with behavioral health problems to protect the family's rights and to assist in reducing associated stigma.
  4. Assist families in connecting to community resources, specific to persons who are pregnant or recently postpartum.
  5. Demonstrates in practice there are multiple pathways to recovery.
  6. Ability to adjust hours of work based on community needs, including evenings and weekends.

Required experience:

  1. Must be in long term recovery from a substance use disorder for at least two consecutive years.
  2. One year of peer coaching or related experience preferred.

Required skills/education:

  1. High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree required.
  2. Must possess active status in certification as:
    1. Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) or obtain a development plan; and
    2. Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) or able to complete once hired
  3. Certificate of completion of the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) Recovery Coach Academy, including ethics.
