Job Summary:
A Master Electrician is responsible for the installation and repair of electrical systems in industrial spaces. They test, troubleshoot, and replace electrical components to ensure systems function safely and efficiently. Must have sound knowledge of their craft and the ability to transfer this knowledge and skill to apprentices and journeyman.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Fosters the safest possible working environment by adhering to federal (OSHA/MSHA), state, and/or local safety regulations; and all company policies
- Ensures that electrical systems adhere to the national electrical code standards and regulations
- Conducts workplace exams and job hazard analysis prior to each shift; identifies and promptly resolves hazards
- Solicits work from new and existing customers
- Bids work and manages contract documents and specifications for projects
- Installs, repairs and services industrial electrical systems
- Schedules team members daily
- Conducts general electrical systems maintenance and troubleshoots electrical issues with testing equipment
- Identifies electrical problems and repairs them
- Obtains required permits
- Meets with accounting team weekly to review job status and billing
- Sources replacement electrical components
- Creates control panels, operational diagrams and machinery schematics
- Interprets blue prints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete projects; generates rough sketches and layout drawings as needed
- Mentors apprentices or journeyman electricians
- Ensures prompt reporting of any accidents or near misses involving you or your team; participates in post-accident investigations to determine root cause(s)
- Works individually or as part of a team to successfully complete projects
- Projects a professional and respectful demeanor at all times when representing the Company; demonstrates self-control
- Provides guidance, coaching and mentoring to less experienced team members
- Performs other projects and duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); and/or Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA) standards; and pertinent electrical codes and regulations

- Valid drivers’ license;
- Must be able to obtain DOT license
- Must have own tools
Education/Experience:
- Master’s License required
- Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience in an industrial, manufacturing, surface mining environment
- Minimum three years of supervisory experience
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb stairs/ladders and use of hands
- Must have vision, hearing, and ability to talk
- Exposure to hot/cold temperatures
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to travel independently to multi-state customer job sites
- Strong manual dexterity and eye to hand coordination
- Ability to identify wires by their distinct colors
