WHAT YOU'LL DO
As part of the Quality Assurance Department, theTest Lab Technicianis responsible for helping to maintain the efficient flow of testing materials throughout the lab. The Technician will be expected to dimension, test, as well as aid in the fabrication of specimens or materials to meet required acceptance criteria within engineering drawings and specifications. The Technician may perform first article inspection and other materials inspections per engineering specifications. Additionally, the Technician will be expected to sign off sequences for inspection and testing as required for record-keeping purposes. The Technician will also be expected to help monitor and maintain testing equipment as well as the shared workspace in the lab. Will work in conjunction with various engineering departments. Other expectations may include:
- Prime function of this position is test prep
- Conduct material tests including Dynamic Mechanical Analysis, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Short Beam Shear, Tensile, and Compression of composite materials
- Conduct flow and gel time tests on uncured composite materials
- Monitor and coordinate testing throughput in the lab environment
- Use dimensional measurement tools to record data and ensure that composite specimens meet required criteria within engineering specifications
- Read and interpret CAD based drawings of parts/specimens
- Correctly and efficiently fabricate and machine parts/specimens per engineering drawings within allowable tolerances
- Monitor machining equipment to ensure proper function; make adjustments to equipment as necessary to maintain adequate workflow and specimen throughput
- Operate sample preparation ovens as needed for specimen fabrication; create programs on oven controllers for specific cure cycles specified by engineering, as needed

- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future
