Science Academies of New York (SANY) seeks a Mathematics Teacher to work at Utica Academy of Science Charter School (UASCS) in Frankfort, NY, to instruct students mathematics and related sub-topics at the intermediate and junior high school level. Specifically, the teacher will:


· Prepare mathematics course objectives and outlines for courses of study following curriculum guidelines and school requirements;

· Use lectures, demonstrations, audio-visual aids and other materials to enhance instruction;

· Assign and correct homework and administer tests to evaluate student progress;

· Counsel students in academic progress;

· Meet with parents to discuss student progress and design and implement individualized programs, after-school tutoring, and remedial sessions as necessary;

· Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops;

· Sponsor student activities and student organizations, organize educational field trips and after-school activities, and run after-school clubs;

· Coach and train students for regional and national science fairs, competitions, and Olympiads.


The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field. A successful candidate must have two (2) years of experience in:

· Teaching and developing mathematics curriculum for middle and high school students;

· Designing and implementing individualized programs as well as afterschool and remedial classes;

· Organizing and supervising mathematic clubs;

· Coaching and supervising students for science fairs and competitions; and

· Coordinating Olympiads.


The annual base salary for this position is $57,400.00.
