CLOOS North America is looking for a motivated and experienced Field Service Technician to help us with growing our Customer Support Team. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of servo controlled robotic systems including how to test Servo motors, Servos, power supplies and dual channel E-stop circuits. A successful Field Service Technician will be facing directly with customers and that interaction must be professional and a positive reflection of the company. The field Service Technician is responsible for executing assigned robotic/ automation jobs, including onsite installation, repair, and follow up on service escalations. Services are provided in house, on site, and/or via telephone.

The Field Service Technician works to resolve problems with an emphasis on the controls side of the business. This can include design, checks, and troubleshoots electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and water designs per assigned project. The objective is to resolve problems, share information with other team members and to make in-field design changes if required to improve equipment performance.

The Field Service Technician will also provide on the job training (OJT) opportunities and coaching/mentoring for upcoming Field Service Technicians.

Essential Functions:


  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, simple 2D layouts and other technical drawings.
  • Install \ replace control devices such as PCB’s, switches, relays, circuit-breakers.
  • Test continuity, voltage and current of circuits using various testing instruments.
  • Repair of customer equipment either in-house or at customer facilities throughout North America.
  • Frequent travel to customer sites & general business errands required- both domestic and international (passport required)
  • Work within flexible work/ travel schedule. Travel to customer sites on short notice.
  • Installation of robotic welding equipment at customer facilities throughout North America.
  • Customer Support at customer facility of new and used equipment.
  • Develop technical credibility & rapport with customer. Forward sales leads to appropriate manager.
  • Basic Robot Programming support during and after robot system installations.
  • Address customer concerns about their equipment and report such concerns and possible resolutions to management.
  • Customer training on how to correctly operate and maintain their equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on robotic welding equipment either in-house or at customer facilities throughout North America.
  • Backup all software, programming, or configuration changes made during the customer visits.
  • Calibration of robotic welding equipment either in-house or at customer facilities throughout North America.
  • In-house assembly and testing of new and used equipment.
  • In-house customer service support via text, telephone, e-mail etc.
  • Robotic System assembly
  • Robotic system installation at customer facilities throughout North America.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


Required Education:


  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of trade school or apprenticeship program in electrical panel building preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience

Required Experience / Abilities:

  • Minimum of 1 year Robotics, PLC, hydraulics and pneumatics experience required.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to be a team leader as required
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Read and understand schematics
  • 1 year of pneumatics print reading and understanding experience
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, electronic, etc prints and other related technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with voltmeter and other electrical types of measuring devices
  • Basic math and English reading skills required
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with internal and external customers
  • Ability to give and or follow oral written instruction as required
  • Ability to write a detailed report of findings as needed
  • Must be able to load software on laptop then use software to diagnose faults, make changes, update tags, and PLC program as needed
  • Positive and professional approach in all interactions
  • Detail Oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Siemens S7 or TIA 2 years minimum
  • Willingness to learn about new hardware and software as needed
  • Team player
  • Solid organization skills
  • Overnight travel required (50~80%)
