THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Program Director (PD) works at the intersection of business and academia, serving as the primary representative of UNC Executive Development and managing all aspects of impact focused, revenue-generating client relationships. As a senior member of the organization, the PD is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and assessment of a portfolio of customized professional learning experiences and for building the brand and business, including P&L for their specific portfolio.

Working as a member of a cross-functional team, the PD grows and manages UNC Executive Development’s engagement in their assigned client portfolios, sectors, and related industry relationships, including playing a critical role in developing new client relationships. To be effective in the role, the PD will be expected to help build the organization’s knowledge base and practice as a world-class provider of cutting-edge executive education, participate in business development, and continually work to understand and respond to clients’ objectives.


PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Percentage allocation of time and energy varies over the lifecycle of client relationships and program delivery cycles.

Client Relationship Management (30%)

  • Continually nurture and strengthen high-stakes, high-touch client relationships through thoughtful communication and attentive engagement.
  • Lead the development of innovation solutions in regard to clients’ needs, and support intra-client meetings.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through collaborative decision-making and proactive problem-solving in relation to clients’ goals, needs, and interests.

Program Learning and Delivery Design (25%)

  • Lead the design and refresh of content and learning journey, including strategic re-design initiatives, client case studies, and 5-year reviews.
  • Drive continuous content design and re-design efforts based on client feedback, emerging industry trends, and learning objectives.
  • Design and facilitate delivery of post-program learning integration and job-embedded, goal-aligned implementation activities to ensure effective transfer and enactment of learning.
  • Design and implement new content-delivery models and learning-support initiatives, such as microlearning, learning app integration, and alumni engagement experiences.
  • Provide oversight of all program deliveries, from preparation to execution and follow-up, ensuring alignment with client expectations and program objectives.

Faculty Engagement and Communication (15%)

  • Work with client organizations to identify and engage teaching faculty for a wide range of subject matter, modalities, and physical delivery locations globally.
  • Continually evaluate and strengthen bench of world-class teaching faculty from within UNC and externally.
  • Facilitate effective communication between faculty and clients regarding all aspects of program design, development, delivery and assessment of teaching efficacy, learning value, and impact.

Team Leadership (15%)

  • Lead, guide, and direct members of cross-functional program teams through both direct supervisory relationships and indirect, project-focused work groups.
  • Set and manage expectations for client support and participant experience, ensuring delivery at the highest levels of quality and professionalism in all aspects of client and program lifecycles.
  • Foster team and individual development through coaching, mentoring, goal setting and performance management, nurturing a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Planning and Budgeting (10%)

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop multi-year strategic plans and budgets for the Portfolio, ensuring alignment with client needs and organizational goals.
  • Manage the financial performance of the portfolio and identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth.

Data Management and Reporting (5%)

  • Oversee data management processes, including participant evaluations, After-Action Reviews (AAR), client observations, and faculty feedback.
  • Develop measurement strategies, analyze trends and themes, and provide actionable insights to drive program improvement and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate quarterly and off-cycle reporting and data requests, providing insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, education, or a related field; master’s in business administration or other relevant advanced degree(s) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in operational business leadership roles, client relationship management, executive education, consulting, or a related field of learning and development.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining high-touch client relationships, driving revenue growth, and exceeding performance targets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with senior executives and key stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to leverage data and insights to drive program improvement and business results.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead complex global initiatives and collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
  • Leadership experience in a Fortune 500 corporate context with learning and development preferred.
  • Senior-level experience designing, delivering, and evaluating effective professional learning experiences preferred.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
