FIREFIGHTER

PUBLIC SAFETY

VOLUNTEER

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general guidance and direction of the Volunteer Fire Chief is responsible to report to the fire station to fight fires.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Fights fires by placing, connecting, and advancing hoses; operates equipment such as firefighting apparatus, nozzles, ladders, hydrants, extinguishers, generators, etc; ventilates structures; enters structures in a cautious and safe manner; participates in post-emergency salvage operations and cleanup.

Maintains and cleans equipment and vehicles; stocks supplies; prepares and submits reports.

Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position. Must abide by all city policies and procedures. Must work well with others and be a team player.

Applicants may be required to submit to a criminal background check and fingerprint report.

Performs other duties as necessary.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Must become Utah State certified Firefighter I & Wildland Red Card within the first year of appointment.

Must pass city physical.

Must have a valid Utah State driver's license.

Ability to make sound decisions in highly stressful situations.
