This role is responsible for the application of technology and operational excellence in all manufacturing processes for both new product introduction and in support of existing products that are produced and/or deployed in North America. The role will work closely with a cross functional team comprised of design, commercial engineering, quality, program managers, supply chain, IT, and production to transition new products from prototype to production, installation, and sustained in-the-field operations. This role will lead a team of manufacturing, process, and test engineers to develop the process, manufacturing line, fixtures, tests, and test equipment to meet operational requirements at both internal and external manufacturing locations. Additionally, this role centers around driving the sustainability initiatives for our industrial automation equipment portfolio. This role is responsible for overseeing the engineering change management process, ensuring timely and effective adjustments to existing products in response to market, lifecycle analysis, and regulatory demands.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop vision and strategy - Build the manufacturing engineering organization by setting a clear vision and operational execution plan.
  • Act as the lead technical expert who aids in the development of manufacturing engineers, drafters, technicians, and the validation of manufacturing processes.
  • Lead a team of manufacturing, process, component, and test engineers to integrate new products and support existing products in manufacturing.
  • Define and implement workflows, line layout, fixtures, and equipment while providing progressively refined labor, cost, and capacity estimates.
  • Develop and improve relevant NPI processes.
  • Ensure complete manufacturing documentation, such as drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, etc., are kept current and available for TARGAN production teams and third-party manufacturing partners.
  • Analyze existing workflows, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency, improve yield, and reduce cost.
  • Coordinate with commercial design and quality teams to analyze failures, define root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Design and maintain production line assembly fixtures and methods, calibration processes and methods, and quality measurement systems.
  • Oversee the change management process for all engineering changes, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and minimal disruption.
  • Establish and maintain a standardized process for initiating, evaluating, implementing, and tracking changes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the implications of changes, including cost, timelines, and downstream impacts.
  • Ensure the current as-built design and bill-of-materials, and the change history, for every deployed or stocked product, system, and sub-systems is fully documented, updated as each change is implemented, and made available to the engineering and operations teams for reference.
  • Drive the sustainability vision and strategy across the product lifecycle, from concept through end-of-life.
  • Establish sustainability KPIs and track progress against these metrics.
  • Advocate for sustainable design principles, materials, and methodologies in product development.
  • Stay updated with the latest sustainability trends, regulations, and technologies in the industrial automation space.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of sustainability and change management professionals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
  • Ensure that the team is equipped with the necessary skills and tools to excel in their roles.
  • Conduct regular lifecycle assessments of products to analyze and identify opportunities to enhance performance, reduce footprint, and ensure sustainability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness throughout the equipment's lifespan.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve systems reliability in both released product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Drive iterative improvements based on feedback from customers, field data, and internal teams.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis for any product functional sustainability or change management-related issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Production/Manufacturing environment
  • Lift more than 25 pounds.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years experience with a specific focus on product development for manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering change management or related fields.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven record of team development and mentorship.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, certifications, and best practices related to sustainability in industrial automation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Professional certifications in product lifecycle and change management.
  • Prior experience in the industrial automation equipment industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliances.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
