Neurology Veterinary Technician


Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is looking to hire a Neurology Technician to join our team. We are a busy general practice and emergency hospital which is built around a collaborative culture.

The ideal candidate will assist the Neurologist with appointments and procedures. Candidate must be able to work with cats, dogs, and the occasional exotics.

Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Ability to properly restrain patients based on ailment (ie; patients with IVDD, disc herniations, seizure disorders, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of neurology equipment, how to operate equipment, and maintenance required
  • Ability to perform basic diagnostics with aseptic approach
  • Common procedure setup and assistance
  • Knowledge of common neurology surgical instruments, identification of instruments and care
  • Proficient with patient monitoring during both brief sedation and general anesthesia
  • Proficient and comfortable with client education
  • Proficient and comfortable with client interaction such as obtaining a history, medical record keeping and phone and email communication

Skills/Qualifications:

  • One or more years’ experience in veterinary medicine, neurology specialty preferred but not required
  • Understand common terminology used to describe neurology ailments/diseases
  • Understand medical terminology used to describe anatomy and dosages specific to neurology
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Organized and have excellent time management skills

Physical Requirements and COVID-19 Requirements:

This job is physically active and requires frequent bending and standing for long periods of time. COVID Vaccine is preferred or within 3 weeks of completion. Flexible work schedule (ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays).
