Job Class: Full-time, exempt, year-round
Reports to: Director of Development
Pay Range: $70,000 to $85,000 annually. Starting salary is commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

Position Description:

The Development & Communications Associate supports the daily operations of the Development and Communications Offices at SFFS. This role focuses on data management, organizing events, supporting communications, and managing the alumni program.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Development Support

  • Manage the fundraising database, including gift entry, acknowledgements, and reconciliation reports.
  • Assist with donor research, profiles, and cultivation efforts.
  • Produce training materials and assist with basic marketing and communications.
  • Support meeting logistics.
 

Communications Support

  • Assist with newsletters, social media content, and photography at school events.
  • Collaborate on additional writing projects and website updates.
 

Special Events

  • Help manage annual development-related events.
  • Coordinate timelines, budgets, and requirements for each event.
  • Assist with event invitations and promotions.
 

Alumni Relations

  • Oversee the alumni relations program, including outreach and communications.
  • Plan alumni events and activities to enhance connections with the school.
  • Collaborate on alumni features in publications and social media presence.
  • Support alumni fundraising strategies.
 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support Parent/Guardian Association and volunteers.
  • Provide administrative support including supply management and filing systems.
  • Assist with school duties as assigned.
 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree with nonprofit/fundraising and/or communications experience; independent school experience preferred.
  • Event management experience with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and CRM software (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
  • Familiarity and proficiency with social media platforms and design tools; familiarity with a website site management platform is helpful (Finalsite preferred) 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Alignment/interest in the school’s mission and values. 
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
 

Physical requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
