Position Summary:

  • The Training Specialist is responsible for ongoing training Business Unit wide and provides education, assistance and coordination to employees in order to ensure quality service delivery.

Location:

  • Pittsburg, KS

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Human Services related field

Experience:

  • Three years of experience in children and family services
  • Requires Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email

Licensure/Certification:

  • Valid Auto Insurance
  • Valid Drivers License
  • At least 21 years old
  • BSRB Licensure, preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To continue to build a child welfare system that is safe, secure & stable; family centered; connected to the community; and which relies on evidence-based practice necessary to support contract services in Kansas
  • Facilitate new hire permanency orientation
  • Provide direction and training on CAFAS to ensure staff maintain current reliability
  • Coordinate new hire mentor/supervisor as well as track for mentoring requirement completion
  • Ensure all employees complete required trainings
  • Develop, research, and acquire curriculum for requested and/or required training needs as necessary
  • Provide policy practice training and updates as required
  • Assist with retention and staff appreciation efforts
  • Represent the agency at external meetings as assigned
  • Shadow staff on site to specifically identify areas requiring additional training and competency related issues; and provide follow up training as needed
  • Advocate for permanency in child time and seamless service systems within KVC, the communities served by KVC, the statewide network that affects the work KVC does on behalf of children and their families
  • Serve as a consultant for case management staff
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities.
