REPORTS TO: Director of Special Projects and Operations
HOURS: Full time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
PAY RANGE: $27.89-31.49 per hour
BENEFITS: Medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long term disability insurance and sick leave are available to employees. Employees accrue 116 hours of vacation during the first year and receive 11 paid holidays. (Prorated for part-time employees).
POSITION TYPE: Non-exempt, management position
This role collaborates with hiring managers to determine their needs and facilitate the hiring process. The Hiring and Onboarding Specialist partners with the in-house Recruiter to review resumes then conducts interviews and selects candidates to support LIHI’s Emergency and Enhanced Shelter Program operations during a period of high growth. This role is central to the employee experience, supporting new team members from the first meeting through onboarding.
Responsibilities:
- Provide the Recruiter with information needed to ensure all vacant Enhanced Emergency Services and Shelter positions have an active requisition and follow up with Human Resources to close requisitions as needed
- Suggest local and virtual opportunities for job advertisement and hiring events to expand our reach to other candidates
- Review Requisitions and resumes daily, working with the Recruiter to identify qualified applicants.
- Conduct initial interviews and participate in or lead interview panels as needed.
- Communicate offers and start dates to the HR coordinator who coordinates background checks, drug tests, and other pre-employment steps.
- Support and monitor the new hire onboarding process to ensure candidate success while building rapport with applicants. Act as a liaison between Human Resources, Shelter Operations Managers, and the applicant to ensure all required onboarding tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure required documentation and interview notes are sent to HR for record keeping purposes.
- Maintain departmental records and update directories and databases.
- Develop and conduct new employee orientation and assist with ongoing training required trainings for new employees
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks, projects, and initiatives as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- High attention to detail, ability to coordinate multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work successfully with a broad variety of individuals
- Intermediate comfort level with computers and software systems
- Commitment to equitable and inclusive hiring practices
- Able to pass criminal background and drug screenings
