United is currently seeking a Fulltime Mechanical Engineer to join our team in our Charlotte, NC office. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team of engineers and designers preparing modification packages for mechanical systems serving the nuclear power industry.


***** THIS WILL BE A HYBRID OPPORTUNITY, WORKING TUESDAY THRU THURSDAY IN THE OFFICE*****


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING


  • Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
  • Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
  • Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
  • Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
  • Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.



WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU


·         Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university

·         Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (2 years nuclear) in the mechanical engineering field.

·         The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.



WHAT WILL SET YOU APART


·         Duke Energy Nuclear experience

·         Master of Science Degree in mechanical or nuclear engineering preferred.

·         Professional Engineering (PE) license in US

·         Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, PROTO-FLO, KYPIPE, or Equivalent)

·         Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems
