Position Overview:

The Director of Data Engineering and Analytics in the healthcare industry is responsible for leading and overseeing the development, implementation, and management of data engineering and analytics strategies. This role involves guiding a team of data engineers, analysts, and architects to ensure the delivery of high-quality data solutions that support the organization's clinical, operational, and business objectives. The director will collaborate with various stakeholders, including IT, clinical teams, and business units, to drive data-driven decision-making and enhance the quality of care through advanced analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Strategy:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive data engineering and analytics strategy aligned with the organization's goals.

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data engineers, analysts, and architects, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in data engineering, analytics, and healthcare to continuously improve processes and tools.

2. Data Engineering:

• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, ensuring the efficient extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various sources.

• Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and availability of data across the organization.

• Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data governance, compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA), and the protection of sensitive health information.

3. Analytics & Reporting:

• Develop and implement advanced analytics solutions, including predictive analytics, machine learning models, and business intelligence tools, to support decision-making.

• Lead the design and development of dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights to clinical and business stakeholders.

• Work closely with clinical and operational teams to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that drive quality improvement and efficiency.

4. Collaboration & Communication:

• Partner with clinical leaders, business executives, and IT to understand data needs and translate them into actionable data and analytics solutions.

• Communicate complex data findings and insights in a clear and actionable manner to non-technical stakeholders.

• Promote a data-driven culture across the organization, advocating for the use of data and analytics in decision-making processes.

5. Project Management:

• Manage multiple data engineering and analytics projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.

• Oversee the procurement and implementation of data platforms, tools, and technologies.

• Develop and monitor project plans, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.

• Proven experience in the healthcare industry, with a strong understanding of healthcare data, systems, and regulations.

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

• Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, R, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

Skills:

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare interoperability standards.

• Experience with machine learning and AI applications in healthcare.

• Certification in healthcare data analytics (e.g., CHDA) or project management (e.g., PMP).

Work Environment:

This role may require occasional travel and the ability to work in both office and remote settings. The Director of Data Engineering and Analytics will work closely with various teams and departments, requiring strong collaboration and communication skills.
