Apprentice Carpenter

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are willing to learn the carpentry trade to join our team. You will work alongside our project foreman and carpenters to demo, build-out and clean up commercial projects in Northern IL.

An apprentice carpenter is an individual with the ability to take direction, work hard with an aptitude to learn and assist others with their tasks. The ideal candidate will also have a general understanding of the construction trade and be able to work with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.

The goal is to contribute to a long-lasting working relationship in a team-oriented environment while maintaining the quality and integrity of the project with developing the skill set to allow you to move up within our company.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain a clean jobsite (clean up construction debris and sweep floors)

• Set up jobsites by moving tools and equipment as directed

• Assist with moving jobsite materials

• Erect and break down scaffolding

• Move and set up ladders

• Demo construction sites and load dumpsters

• Learn how to frame with steel and wood studs

• Learn how to layout and install acoustical ceiling track and tile

• Learn how to install windows and doors

• Learn how to install general millwork (interior doors, casing and base)

• Learn how to install cabinetry and cabinet trim

• Assist with the assembly of steel buildings

• Clean tools, trucks and shop as directed

• Lead by example with positive attitude, proper PPE and safe work practices

• Respect client's property and belongings


Requirements

• Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain reliable transportation

• Must possess a working mobile phone

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required

• Knowledge and understanding of the English language

• Maintain good physical condition and endurance

• Must be able to work at heights

• Able to work required overtime, or alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the project

• General knowledge of standard practices, materials & tools of the carpentry trade

• General knowledge of occupational hazards & safety precautions of the trade

• Able to work as a team and ask questions if you do not understand the task
