POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Director is a strategic leadership role responsible for the design, implementation, support, and oversight of all agency mentoring programs. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this full-time, exempt position ensures match growth, match retention, and match length goals are met through leadership of recruitment, enrollment, match, and retention functions. The Program Director is responsible for overall quality and capacity building of agency direct services through an ongoing process of program & staff development, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of service staff. This position plays a critical role in developing programs in concert with the organization's vision, mission, and strategic plan, while providing strategic leadership to the program team and contributing to the overall organization’s vision, mission, and strategic plan.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the program team, aligning program objectives with the agency's vision, mission, and strategic plan
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the agency's overall strategy as a member of the executive leadership team
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making within the program team and across the agency

Program Management & Performance

  • Manage all Service Delivery Model processes, including recruitment, recognition, orientation, ongoing training, match activities, and parent engagement
  • Ensure adherence to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America's National Standards, the Service Delivery Model, and Agency Best Practices
  • Monitor program performance using workflow and tracking systems; gather accurate information for reports, track performance, and develop measures to ensure growth, minimize risk, and meet annual agency program goals
  • Plan, lead, and drive the implementation of programs designed to increase and strengthen Big and Little match relationships and youth development
  • Develop and implement new program initiatives to expand mentoring services or target community issues as directed or needed

Staff Oversight & Training

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop all Service Delivery Model staff/contractors
  • Ensure effective onboarding and provide ongoing staff training and development opportunities

Grants Management

  • Oversee program grant writing needs and reporting requirements
  • Create and maintain Matchforce reports and dashboards for grant tracking
  • Communicate grants, deliverables, and updates with program staff and ensure program deliverables meet grant expectations and agency standards

Partnership Development

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with faith-based, community, school, and business leaders in the service area to educate them about the agency's mission, promote involvement in agency activities, and gain their support
  • Oversee all program partnerships, including schools, corporate volunteer programs, and enhancements


AGENCY SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend required meetings and events, as scheduled.
  • Establish and promote positive communication among all team members of BBBSSEM to increase collaboration and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Represent BBBSSEM in a professional manner at all times, providing courteous service to both internal and external constituents and presenting a positive image of BBBSSEM.
  • Abide by BBBSSEM policies, procedures and standard operating practices.
  • Utilize educational opportunities and related resources to improve agency service.
  • Promote and maintain cooperative working relationships with other community organizations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to identify possible partners and partnerships, staff and promote agency events, and provide support for other efforts, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE

Performance will be evaluated annually based on meeting the requirements of the job description; meeting performance metrics and other quality indicators established for this position; working effectively in a team environment; and demonstrating the values of BBBS of Southeast Michigan.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in program management, youth development, or a related field
  • Proven track record of strategic leadership and driving program growth and impact
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Proficiency in using technology and data to drive decision-making
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
