What you'll do:

The Manager of OSP Engineering is responsible for the direction and management of the OSP Engineering teams within US Signal. This position reports to the Director of Architecture and may take direction from other members of the Executive Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to OSP Engineering staff.
  • Responsible for managing third party fiber contractors for new construction and fiber restorations.
  • Responsible for vision, growth, and scaling of departments to meet an ever-changing business need in the constantly evolving technology sector.
  • Develop and implement operating budgets, expenditure reporting, efficient utilization of financial and human resources within corporate objectives, plans, and established budget guidelines.
  • Assure implementation and support of departmental policies to gain efficiencies.
  • Work with other departments to help facilitate and streamline inter-departmental procedures.
  • Responsible for owned and leased Outside Plant assets to include negotiation and management of fiber routes and IRU agreements.
  • Ensure billing and invoicing related to departmental actions are processed efficiently.
  • Ensure records and documentation are maintained and accurate.
  • Must be able to participate in directing fiber network restoration on a 24X7X365 basis and be easily accessible and continually available outside of standard business hours.
  • Act as a 4th level escalation point for internal and external support efforts.


What you bring to the team:
To be successful in this position, you should bring the following qualifications, experiences, and education:

Competencies:

  • 5 years' experience in a technical telecom and/or network management role.
  • Strong knowledge of telecom infrastructure, outside plant operations, project management and engineering practices.
  • 5 years' experience in plant and systems engineering, maintenance and customer support.
  • High level of analytical ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and effective communicator (written and verbal).
  • Attention to detail, highly accurate, and possess excellent organization skills.
  • Outstanding leadership, influencing and mentoring skills, along with a flexible personality.
  • Ability to work well within all areas of the US Signal organization as well as with external customers and vendors.

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferred. Formal or informal knowledge and thorough understanding of outside plant infrastructure, components, and architectures.

Experience:
  • 5 years of technical experience in the telecommunications field.
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Visio.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This position operates in a variety of environments. The majority of the time is spent in a professional office environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Required License(s)/Certification(s):

Valid, active driver's license with a good driving record as defined by the Company's current insurance provider.
