DME Patient Intake Specialist- Tomball, TX

Summary
The Patient Intake Specialist is the point of contact to ensure patients' needs are met. Coordinates patients' treatment plans and follow up, order changes, and renewals.
Essential Functions
- Determines insurance eligibility and coverage for a variety of plans and patient-specific situations
- Submits authorization requests to insurance in an accurate and timely manner
- Communicates with patients and families to assess supply needs
- Screens/rescreens patients for nutrition risk per established criteria
- Documents data collection results and makes appropriate referrals to the Dietitian as per
- Communicates effectively with physicians and dietitians regarding patient needs and required documentation
- Works directly with staff, patients, insurance companies and referral sources to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients
- Documents communication and action plans thoroughly
- Troubleshoots product sourcing issues if applicable
- Special Projects as assigned
- Process customer orders, requests and information updates into a patient order management system
- Performs Order Changes and Renewals
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate degree or Equivalent
- Able to work in fast-paced, self-directed environment
- PC literate – Ability to use Excel, Word, PowerPoint & nutrition software - Brightree experience a plus
