Position Summary:

As the leader of Event Services at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, the Director spearheads initiatives to boost awareness, engage donors, and build community connections. Embedded within the External Affairs group, the Director leads a dynamic team in planning and executing a wide range of events, all aligned with Federation’s objectives, particularly in Financial Resource Development (FRD) and other key programs. The Event Services team is responsible for the overall development and execution of Federation’s high-profile events and offers guidance, support, and consultation for specific affiliates and department programs. With expertise in event strategy, leadership, resource management, project coordination, and customer service, they build partnerships with vendors and stakeholders, ensure operational efficiency, and foster innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads and inspires a dynamic team of event professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation in planning and executing high-impact events, while providing mentorship and support to staff members.
  • Sets clear objectives and performance expectations for team members, regularly evaluating progress, offering constructive feedback, and facilitating opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Designs and implements strategic event plans aligned with the organization's goals and mission, ensuring that each event enhances the brand and contributes effectively to the overall strategic direction.
  • Utilizes industry best practices and consultative expertise to deliver sustainable and scalable event solutions tailored to programmatic needs, ensuring exceptional quality and value.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to assess event requirements, identify resource needs, and manage logistical elements such as venue selection, catering, entertainment, and technical support.
  • Serves as the lead event planner for their own portfolio of events, overseeing all operational aspects from inception to execution.
  • Establishes and maintains robust event management protocols, including comprehensive timelines, budgeting, contract management, and performance tracking.
  • Drives innovation by integrating cutting-edge technologies and methodologies for virtual, in-person, and hybrid events, enhancing audience engagement and overall experience.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators to measure event effectiveness, analyzing metrics such as attendance, engagement, and ROI to inform future strategies and optimizations.
  • Facilitates productive team meetings and agendas to foster collaboration, streamline processes, and advance departmental objectives.
  • Collaborates closely with campaign and program staff to align event strategies with broader organizational initiatives, offering strategic recommendations and insights.
  • Cultivates strong relationships with event chairs and professional partners, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment with established goals and budgetary requirements.
  • Leads vendor relationship management and contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms and optimal service delivery.
  • Maintains accurate donor information within the database for assigned events, supporting ongoing stewardship and cultivation efforts.

Qualifications:


  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Event Planning, Fundraising, Non-profit Management, Business Administration, Hotel Management, or similar.
  • 3-5 years experience with event management and supervising and directing the work of others or equivalent relevant combination of education, skills, and experience required, with a preference for experience in fundraising events.
  • Experience working with volunteers and committees preferred.
  • Experience with donor relation systems preferred.
  • Experience managing budgets preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of basic office computing, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint) and basic database skills required.
  • Knowledge of effective utilization of audio-visual equipment preferred.
  • Creativity and innovative thinking required.
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task with numerous deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed, especially during season, require
