Begin with Books Volunteer

Do you enjoy working with young children and books, and want to make a difference in your community? Join the Begin with Books program. Volunteers provide a monthly story time for children ages 0-5 at a private childcare home. Story time activities can include reading, songs, finger plays and action rhymes. Training, books and materials provided

What you'll do: 

• Work to create positive experiences with our Begin with Books program.
• Promote the love of books through stories and songs.

• Engage children in story time activities.
• Read books to children.
• Lead songs, finger plays, and action rhymes.

What you have: 

• Interested in working with children 0-5 and their caregivers.
• Ability working with attention to detail.
• Ability in being organized and reliable.
• Ability to work with people from all backgrounds and age groups.
• Ability to demonstrate positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively and openly communicate young children.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Reliable means of transportation.

Volunteer Schedule: The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and is subject to change.
