Job DescriptionJob DescriptionLitigation ParalegalPay Rate: $18 an hour/$39,520 a yearLocation: Houston, TX 77081Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00am-4:00pmA national law firm specializing in government debt collection is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join their team With your strong communication skills, you will prepare, review, and file tax warrants, lawsuits, and client reports. Submit your resume todayResponsibilities:
  • Filing and preparing necessary documents to file an ad valorem tax suit
  • Managing docket for multiple district courts
  • Maintain a heavy case load of approximately 1,000 cases
  • Monitor the service status of each defendant, and secure proper service on all defendants sufficient to obtain a valid and enforceable final judgment in the proceeding
  • Prepare all pleadings to obtain a valid and enforceable final judgment in the proceedings.
  • Communicate and/or meet with taxpayers and defendants as necessary to prosecute such cases and collect the delinquent taxes and fees which are the subject of the suit
  • Obtain a trial setting under the procedures established by the court.
  • Draft a final judgment for submission to the court.
  • Maintain close communication with the clerks of the courts to facilitate the setting and resolution of cases.
List Qualification or Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Bilingual in Spanish or English Speaking
  • 0-3 years of previous legal experience or working within a legal setting
