Position Overview

Soft Shades Cutter 1 cuts and racks soft shade cuts in accordance with customer specifications

What you'll do

● Knowledge of cutting on the pick, to cut patterns, to cut drop patterns, to use a
cutting bar, to use an electric knife.
● To check the zone ticket with the face fabric ticket and the order, for the correct
name of the fabric and the color. To check bolt tag numbers
● To watch the light and on the table and also once it is racked for defective goods,
all defective goods must be signed by the cutting supervisor
● To cut the correct number of cuts for the order, cutters are responsible for their
racking, fabric must be neat and racked in proper order
● All orders must be initialed and dated, swatches must be attached to the order
and lining tickets, all racks must have day card
● Cut outs are listed daily and turned into the cutting supervisor. Re-cuts are listed
daily and turned into the cutting supervisor
● Orders that require banding is given to the repair cutter
● Yardage is indicated on the inventory adjustment ticket by the item number
● Back-orders from the cutters indicate the plant number, fabric, color, yardage, BO
date, cutters number, and the reason why the goods were not cut.
● White clips are put on sheers to avoid holes
● Bolt tags from cutters indicate the subtraction of yardage used, yards remaining,
cutters number, plant number on Carole and date
● Cut outs are folded and put in box at the end of the cutting department
● Cutters are responsible for their own re-cuts, Carole information includes plant
number, pattern, color, reason for re-cut, cutters number, date and yardage.
Replacement walks and promises are walked to the next operator

● Trim the salvage when the fabric has writing or the salvage can be seen through
the side hem. Salvage is trimmed also when 118" goods are railroad so the
salvage cannot be seen through the bottom hem
● All shorts are cut first before cutting a new bolt
● Each lined item on an order is checked off with a yellow grease pencil after cut
● Cutters use shorts for custom orders that specify decorative pillows, tiebacks,
topper categories, cording, and banding accessories on product
● Cutters also cut their own lining daily
● Perform other duties as assigned.

Who you are

● High school graduate
● Ability to use and read a tape measure
● General knowledge of fabrics and hand cutting fabric
● Ability to use hand tools
● Successfully pass color blind test
● Accuracy with names, numbers and spelling
● Capable of standing for extended periods of time
● Capable of lifting on a continuous basis
● Strong attention to details
● Follow written and verbal instructions
