Job Purpose:

A Warehouse Shift Lead oversees the operations in the warehouse to ensure that all warehouse functions are started and ended on time and that every team member knows what their daily, weekly, and monthly expectations are. Their duties include, but not limited to, mentoring, coaching/counseling, motivation, performance management, and employee relations. The Warehouse Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring compliance with company, state, and federal safety regulations applicable to all areas of the Warehouse.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Warehouse Manager to ensure that each team member in all areas of the warehouse know what should be done as the team members start and end their day. Goals are met daily as well as functional area goals in all areas of the warehouse are adhered to and report daily and weekly progress on KPIs.
  • Works with the Warehouse Manager to improve warehouse productivity by helping to define and implement robust written processes for each warehouse function and then coaching and mentoring employees to achieve performance targets.
  • Resolve performance issues among the assigned shift, maintain a safe work environment and ensure that employees are following all rules and regulations in ALL areas of the warehouse.
  • Work closely with planning, production, quality, and inside sales to deliver production and shipping targets and responds to all correspondents in an expeditious manner.
  • Works with the Warehouse Manager to maintain the physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; bin maintenance and integrity; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement and consumable supplies.
  • Works with the Warehouse Manager to control the inventory levels by following and collaborating on daily cycle count process and helps lead the yearly physical count of entire inventory and reconciling with ERP system.
  • Ensures company documentation polices are followed to support management requests including customer support and audit requests. Expedites communication to all customers both internal and external to ensure all correspondences are followed through to completion in an expeditious manner.
  • Safeguards ALL warehouse operations and contents by following and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • The Warehouse Shift Lead will lead by example and will be a positive role model for all employees while promoting an all Inclusive and safe environment.

  • Treats all KF Valve employees with respect and maintains strict confidentiality on sensitive topics

Requirements:

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of shipping and receiving and/or warehousing experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Consideration will be taken based on experience and education combined; backgrounds in supply chain, business, operations or related experience preferred
  • Firm understanding of inventory management processes; must have experience performing transactions and using ERP systems to retrieve and analyze data.
  • Must demonstrate analytical, root-cause-analysis, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent people skills in mentoring, coaching/counseling, motivation, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Ability to identify improvement projects and lead them to completion while managing day to day execution.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other operations departments and support inside sales to resolve customer issues.
  • Previous experience dealing with logistics companies and freight forwarders is preferred, depending on assignment.

Working Conditions:

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.
  • The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
