Overhead Garage Door Apprentice

We are growing our team and looking for a motivated garage door apprentice to join us. As an apprentice, you will learn to be in charge of servicing and installing residential and commercial garage doors and openers, gate operators and telephone entry systems. Apprentices will travel to numerous job sites, and every day will be different since our company provides service, new installations, and remodels.
You will be interacting with clients on a daily basis across our service areas and must have excellent client service skills. Our ideal candidate is good with power tools and knows the basics of how electrical wiring and connections work. If this sounds like a great opportunity, please apply today

When an apprentice graduates to Field Technician, a company vehicle is provided as well as an annual clothing allowance for pants and/or shoes.
Compensation:$16 - $19 hourly
Responsibilities:- Attend all scheduled appointments within the time frame specified by the Office
- Participate in all team meetings, and observe all company policies and procedures
Learn:
- To make use of our software for taking notes, generating estimates, and producing invoices
- To ensure that measurements and locations for openings are correct for jobs
- To provide the client with their options after conducting a complete inspection and accurate diagnosis of any issues with the current system
- At least 2 years experience as a garage door/gate service and/or installation technician
- Ability to stay calm, composed, and professional especially in emergency situations and with excited clients
- Oral and written communication skills that build rapport quickly with team members, clients, vendors, and sub-contractors, in English
- Experience with Service Titan is desired but not required
- Highly organized with strong time management and respect for deadlines, with attention to detail and accuracy of work
- Basic math skills with experience in collecting client payments
- Ability to read a tape measure and convert measurements
- Ability to assemble and test mechanical components and machine parts
- Basic computer skills, including operation of mobile tablet and cell phone
- Ability to identify errors and solve problems through critical thinking, sometimes outside the traditional ‘box’
- Able to work independently, while representing the values and goals of the company
- Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights of up to 12’ high
- Must be able to operate hand tools, manual and powered
- Must be able to lift, including overhead, and carry up to 80 pounds for up to 50 feet on uneven ground
- Must be able to sit in a vehicle for extended periods of time
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to engage in repetitive motions, especially of arms and wrists
- Must be able to complete activities using fine motor skills of the hands and wrist
- Must be able to effectively communicate in person, over the phone, and by computer
- Must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, ice, and high winds
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record
- Must be able to reach, bend, squat, kneel, grasp, move, feel, touch, see (including color, depth perception, or clarity), and hear (including receiving detailed information orally or making fine discriminations in sound)
