The position of Design Assistant supports the flow of information with the Design Director. You will support the development, designs and assist the Design Director with an array of projects. For this role, we especially value expertise with graphic designs specifically for tile, organisation skills, attention to detail, and creativity. You will also design multiple presentations, room scenes, interior design projects and more. The position may require domestic and international travel. The ideal candidate must have the ability to support processes, have strong organisational skills, multitask, be cross functional to interact with all team members both verbally and written. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be able to assist Design Director in creating CAD and vector format complex shapes and drawings.

  • Be able to communicate files and articulate ideas to overseas factories

  • Provides in-house graphic design, print preparation, and archiving of marketing collateral including but not limited to brochures, direct mail, advertising, website materials, posters, packaging, and logos for all products and services.

  • Assists projects from conceptualisation to production, including but not limited to consulting with client and management to determine scope of project with Design Director, developing sample layouts for approval, interfacing with outside vendors, presenting samples for approval, and preparing final layout for production.

  • Recommends selection of colours, materials, furnishings, lighting, and accessories

  • Assures quality of final product before release.

  • Interfaces with appropriate departments to determine most cost-effective methods for creating new products.

  • Assist with reorganisation of existing and future design and image library. 

  • Maintains high level of knowledge and skill with all computer software related to the design and production of print materials.

  • Understands future trends in home/building design and interiors industry and develops designs based on these trends.

  • Work with minimal supervision, independently at times and collaboratively as part of a larger team at other times.

  • Participate in multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Deliver work on time and with consistent attention to detail, relying on your own experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Assist with Social Media Marketing

  • Participates in brainstorming sessions.

  • Support preparation for client presentations

  • Attends conventions, conferences, and trade shows as needed.

  • Help with tracking and coordinating samples for review

  • Assists with project organisation

  • Offers problem-solving strategy and creative options/solutions to designers and production artists.

  • Interacts and collaborates effectively with internal and external team members to assure creative needs of the company are met

  • Assists with strategic, designing, and producing visual communications.
