Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Long Term Care (LTC)
Location: Bellaire, MI 49615
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (36 hours/week guarantee)
Duration: 13 weeks
Summary:
The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in Long Term Care (LTC) will provide direct care to residents in a nursing facility. The CNA will follow established performance standards and nursing service policies while maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude towards all residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct resident care, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.
- Assist with tub baths, showers, or bed baths for assigned residents.
- Turn and reposition residents per the plan of care; maintain range of motion.
- Obtain and record resident vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse) under the direction of a licensed nurse.
- Transport residents to the dining area and assist with feeding as necessary.
- Use proper body mechanics when transferring and transporting residents; utilize transfer belts and mechanical lifts as indicated.
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms, tables, and nightstands; change bed linens as needed.
- Conduct resident rounds as indicated in the plan of care, before each shift change, and as needed.
- Respond promptly to all call lights and porch egress alarms on the assigned nursing unit.
- Participate in care planning and perform duties as documented in the resident's care plan.
- Report any resident problems, condition changes, or incidents to the Charge Nurse.
- Document incidents and unusual problems according to facility procedures.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and adhere to all Resident Rights rules.
- Document care and treatment provided to residents in the nursing assistant electronic charting system.
- Observe and follow infection control and safety policies and procedures.
- Attend and complete scheduled in-service, Relias training courses, and ward conferences.
- Maintain all certification requirements for the state of Michigan and remain current on the state registry for CNAs.
- Be available for work beyond the normally scheduled shift.
- Maintain regular and timely attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Facility Information:
- No block scheduling is guaranteed.
- Every other weekend is required.
- Facility reserves the right to cancel an active assignment due to multiple no-call/no-shows, call-outs, etc.
- Facility has a cat and dog living onsite full-time. Candidates who are afraid of or allergic to animals may not find this position suitable.
Requirements:
- Experience: Current CNA/PCT/LNA experience required; travel experience required.
- Licensure: Michigan CNA License required.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) strongly encouraged; COVID vaccination strongly encouraged (if declining, must wear a mask).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to move up to 25 lbs. and frequently lift/move more than 50 lbs.
