Remote Database Administrator

Job Duties:

Maintain responsibility for implementing and maintaining one or more complex databases. Analyze the design, development, and delivery or implementation of data solutions, including architecture design, prototyping of concepts to proof of concept, analysis of the development of standards, design, and test plans, code, module design development and testing, data solution debugging, design and implementation of a solution that follows efficient design techniques, and development that meets and exceeds the intent of the design of the data solution. Assist with the planning and engineering of the organization's databases. Monitor performance, scalability, and security and evaluate existing database design to determine the necessary updates and integration requirements of a new design and to ensure final solutions meet organizational needs.


Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience with a complex build system
  • 3+ years of experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of Oracle databases
  • 3+ years of experience configuring, integrating, and securing multiple AWS database offerings (ex. RDS, Aurora, Casandra, and Dynamo)
  • 2+ years of experience with supporting Linux systems engineering efforts in system design and evaluation, solution engineering, software development, or system administration
  • Experience with Database Schema as Code tools
  • Ability to design and develop complex SQL queries and reports to retrieve required data
  • Experience with database partitioning and microservices
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies or the software development life cycle (SDLC)

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience analyzing and tuning queries to improve performance
  • Experience with Liquibase source control tools
  • Experience with Oracle WebLogic/Forms server 19c/12c
  • Experience with Oracle seeded packages
  • Experience with code reviews on SQL change sets and work with developers to create and enforce best practices
  • Experience with Cloud-native database solutions, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) Relational Database Service (RDS) and DynamoDB
  • Exposure to security scanning tools, configuring their use and working with teams to fix vulnerabilities 
  • Knowledge of Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler or Erwin

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other technical discipline required
  • *8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

Critical skills for this position include:

  • Oracle experience
  • Ability to design develop complex SQL queries
  • Experience with Linux, Solaris, and Windows SE efforts
