Lakeland University, an independent, not-for-profit, liberal arts institution, seeks a diverse pool of qualified candidates for the position of Residence Hall Director to manage/supervise residence halls as well as the graduate hall directors assigned to them. This position works diligently to help students persist towards an undergraduate degree as well as programming to support learning-living communities in residence halls, supervision of halls, RA training, summer enrichment and campus crew workers, and campus wide activity planning and supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as a critical leader in fostering a campus culture building on the LU tradition.
  • Prepare Student learning objectives to assess all programming
  • Communicate student activities using marketing, social media, publications etc.
  • Regularly assess all programming on campus and report out to the associate provost for student development
  • Have a strong knowledge of our students and can effectively communicate with them via email, social media, in person etc. regarding programming.
  • Collaboration with faculty and staff;
  • Attend events on campus to support and engage with students;
  • Provides supervision for hall in which he/she resides
  • International student advisor;
  • Provides support and monthly programming for international students;
  • Participates in student development and student success team meetings
  • Assist with housing applications, RA applications/interviews and training;
  • Attends trainings as needed.

SPECIALIZE KNOW-HOW & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree required;
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
  • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities;
  • Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity;
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals;
  • Strong critical thinking skills;
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products;
  • Demonstrates organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day;
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk;
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises;
  • Nights and weekends will be part of the job.
