Cost Estimating 1 Position Overview

Analyzes specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Collects cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors. Computes cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor. Prepares and maintains historical cost data. Creates cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, auditors, vendors, and subcontractors. Proposal preparation including written basis of estimate as well as supporting tables documenting the estimate calculations. Fact Find / Negotiation support of proposals submitted to various customers. Basic understanding of FAR compliance and TINA (Truth in Negotiations Act) would be beneficial. The successful candidate will typically have a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 0-3 years of related professional experience. This position will be physically located in Red Oak, Tx. but may involve support to an additional Qarbon site.

Basic Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will typically have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to analyze and summarize data.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of supply chain principles.
  • Understanding or experience using ERP systems such as SAP ERP or Deltek Costpoint.

Experience and Education Requisites

  • Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent resident per ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) guidelines.
  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or a foreign person per ITAR.
  • This position is 100% onsite in Red Oak, TX.
