Job Summary:   As a highly skilled Maintenance Technician, you will work in cooperation with shift supervisors in the Battle Creek plant and nearby distribution center to ensure all equipment remains operational. We are seeking candidates with 8+ years of experience and higher education in relevant fields, which can include formal education, vocational training, or extensive hands-on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ability to perform advanced mechanical work, including valve replacement, conveyor bearing and chain replacement, motor/gearbox replacement, and lubrication systems maintenance.
  • Possess the skills and knowledge of an Industrial Electrician to read and comprehend electrical schematics, install, troubleshoot, conduct preventative maintenance, and perform repairs to facilities and production equipment up to 480 Volts, 3-Phase.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and re-wiring high-speed equipment such as AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, PLC I/O modules, and servo motors.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical control systems, safety circuits, and automation components such as inductive proximity sensors, photo eye sensors, and mechanical limit switches.
  • Willingness to work off shifts and overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and climates.
  • Capability to work independently or with a team to repair and maintain equipment as needed in a fast-paced environment during production.
  • Commitment to practicing safe working habits, following directions, and working with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with boiler systems and ammonia refrigeration is a plus.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A higher level of education, which can be demonstrated through:
    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
    • Completion of an accredited vocational training program in industrial maintenance or a related field.
    • Extensive hands-on experience and professional certifications in relevant areas.
  • 8+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance-related field.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, belt systems, motors, pumps, and other industrial machine components.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures is required (e.g. lock out / tag out, high voltage electrical).
  • Advanced working knowledge of and the ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Experience in the food industry is a plus.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull product weighing up to 50 pounds out of confined spaces and occasionally having to lift product overhead.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, climb ladders and perform other physical requirements as needed.
