The Planner has overall accountability for managing the tactical side of the supply chain from raw materials to finished goods in a fast paced work environment. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to balance short/long term priorities and exceptional multitasking skills are a must for the position. Key focus is to have the right material available at the right time to support strategic goals of high on time delivery and increased productivity while minimizing inventory costs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

  • Develops and maintain strong working relationships and communications with suppliers and internal and external customers
  • Gives daily updates at the daily production meeting as it pertains to delivery issues.
  • Respond within 24 hours to Customer Service inquiries to assist in order status updates
  • Releases purchase orders to the suppliers to meet the production schedule while keeping balanced inventories.
  • Releases work orders to the shop floor in order to meet production schedules while keeping balanced inventories.
  • Releases internal requisitions to sister companies in order to meet production schedules while keeping balanced inventories.
  • Recommend shipment method for inbound freight with a goal of minimizing these costs.
  • Creates accurate and auditable purchasing records through the ERP system.
  • Maintains accurate Purchase Order due dates in the EPR system.
  • Accountable to Push-in Pull out Purchase Order and Work Order due dates as needed to prevent production disruptions, delays, down time and excess inventory.
  • Resolve supplier delivery problems (late or early) in a timely manner and escalate if assistance is required.
  • Assists in resolving supplier non-conformance, SCAR’s and invoice discrepancies
  • Communicates any potential parts delays that may impact production schedules to their manager and order entry immediately.
  • Assists Engineering with PLCM’s and participates in the phasing in and phasing out of product lines while limiting the inventory obsolescence and manufacturing down time.
  • Advises engineering when there is a possible need to change specifications on products.
  • Reviews ERP system information to schedule work which will meet the customer demand while maintaining proper inventory levels.
  • Assist in (MPS) capacity planning by maintaining lead times and monitor capacity over a two month time fence.
  • Accountable for the scheduling, release, review and closing of jobs.
  • Facilitates cycle counting in value stream and verifies WIP to maintain stock accuracy. Analyzes and reconciles variance, determining and solving root causes.
  • Assists with the execution of the physical inventory and reconciliation of the Physical Inventory.
  • Assists with the decisions to dispose of obsolete inventory and then the execution of the disposition.
  • Makes recommendations to their manager for improvements of processes.
  • Complete special projects and assignments as requested.
  • Recommend potential suppliers to the purchasing department.
  • Communicate to suppliers any increases/decreases/scheduling alignments or changes to production requirements and assess impact to supplier(s) and manufacturing.
  • Send/Review Supplier open order reports
  • Schedule/participate in supplier meetings/calls, review Lead-time, delivery performance

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain or equivalent experience;
  • Basic knowledge of Lean methodologies;
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office and information systems;
  • Excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and teamwork;
  • Good predisposition to change.
  • Must have a working knowledge of MRP (ORACLE Preferred), Excel, Word and purchasing practices. Experience with manufacturing processes of commodities assigned and general office skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a working knowledge of MRP (ORACLE Preferred), Excel, Word and purchasing practices. Experience with manufacturing processes of commodities assigned and general office skills.
  • Be able to maintain adequate levels of inventory to meet the Manufacturing/Sales plan – with numerous reschedule messages from sales. Also interfacing with suppliers relative to new production development, changing forecasts and quality issues to assure a controlled flow of incoming material
  • Manage suppliers relative to Carel’s expectations involving quality and delivery. This will be achieved by use of expediting techniques, vendor schedules and corrective action requests.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

There is significant interaction with the shop floor. In many ways, the people on the shop floor are the customer of this position. This position is responsible for decisions that indirectly affect the profitability of the company and the ongoing relationship with our suppliers.
