Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced CNC Production Manager to oversee metal machining operations in a Machine Shop shop environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, as well as proven leadership skills to effectively manage a team of machinists and ensure the successful execution of daily production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Team Management: Direct and supervise a team of 5 to 10 CNC and manual machinists, providing guidance and support to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  2. Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain weekly and monthly production schedules for incoming and existing projects, optimizing workflow and resource allocation to meet customer deadlines.
  3. CNC Programming: Utilize Solidworks, Solidworks CAM, or similar programming software to program CNC 3 & 4 axis mills, lathes with live tooling and sub-spindle, and plasma cutting tables.
  4. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures and inspection procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of machined components, interpreting PDF drawings and customer-supplied engineering models as needed.
  5. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of CNC machines and equipment, coordinating with the maintenance team to address any issues or repairs in a timely manner.
  6. Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations in the workplace, promoting a culture of safety awareness and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.
  7. Performance Tracking: Monitor production metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  8. Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for machinists to enhance their skills and capabilities, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  9. Communication: Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and quality assurance, to coordinate production activities and address any issues or concerns that may arise.
Qualifications:
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a metal machining job shop environment, with a strong background in CNC machining.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role, demonstrating leadership abilities and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in programming CNC 3 & 4 axis mills, lathes with live tooling and sub-spindle, and plasma cutting tables using Solidworks, Solidworks CAM, or similar software.
  • Ability to interpret PDF drawings and customer-supplied engineering models to ensure accurate machining processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to develop and maintain production schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
