OPPORTUNITY SNAPSHOT:

Under the direction of the CNC Programmer Supervisor, the CNC Programmer plans, designs, and writes CNC programs for machines utilizing Router-Cim software in accordance with company policies and procedures.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Engineer the product programs to calculate number, quantity, speeds and feeds and size of parts. Document established programs according to departmental standards for 2-3 Axis machine.
  • Optimize(“Nest”) “Cut Works” programs for Gerber fabric cutter.
  • Analyze, edit, and alter programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
  • Check accuracy of drawings or plan sets and verify dimensions, including field dimensions.
  • Make entries into “Plan Set” discrepancy log.
  • Assist with training new employees on methods, processes, policies and procedures to ensure the efficient writing of CNC programs.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • A one-year certificate from College or Technical College is preferred with course work in CNC Programming, Auto CAD & Computer Programming; or 3-5 years of related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience to “Router-Cim”, “Cut-Works” or equivalent programming software desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, customer specifications, drawings and CNC programs. Ability to prepare CNC programs, routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Requires use of safety glasses while in the shop.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
