Job Duties and Tasks

  • Operate assigned precision CNC machinery. Have knowledge and flexibility to operate different types of machines as necessary.
  • Set up the machines as directed by the blueprint.
  • Review screen pages and machine operation to detect minor programming issues.
  • Consistently meet output expectations and efficiency requirements.
  • Work with supervisor to recommend process improvements to resolve manufacturing issues or to help improve cycle time.
  • Receive process traveler and verify revisions match on all paperwork.
  • Receive material and load bar feeder or fixture, as necessary.
  • Checks parts for accuracy according to inspection plan and part specifications.
  • Verify the correct program is running on the machine and revision matches traveler.
  • Red tag units that are out of specification (OOS) and submit to the Quality Department or Department Manager for review.
  • Observe line clearance procedures.
  • Ensure work area, machine, tooling, and parts are cleaned regularly and free from excess oil.
  • Maintain quality and acceptable production outputs.
  • Perform daily and routine preventive maintenance on assigned machine based on established standards.
  • Offset the machine to the blueprint for part conformance as needed.
  • Replace tooling at the machine when required.
  • Attend all assigned meetings
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Three to Five years of machinist experience required, preferably within a medical device company.
  • Exposure to ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820 as it relates to the job.
  • Time management, prioritization and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of testing equipment, statistical methods and control plans.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • High School or equivalent.
  • English communication skills a must.
  • General knowledge of precision measuring instruments. The instruments should include, but not limited to calipers, ID / OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators and plug and tread Go/No Go gauges.
  • Ability to read Blueprints.
  • Required knowledge of basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and algebra.
  • Skilled in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Skilled in setting priorities that move projects through efficiently - achieving customer and quality objectives.
  • Skilled in working independently, following through with assignments with minimal direction.
