DUTIES
Manage the Floral/Home & Gift Sales and Merchandising Function for Market of Choice. This position creates excellence in the Floral/Home & Gift department and is responsible for production, pricing, promotion and placement leading to achievement of budgeted sales, margin and growth. The Sales Manager works closely with Store Operations to ensure high standards of execution on all department programs and practices. Working with Store Operations, the Sales Manager helps to identify SOPs for department layout, equipment, workflow, small wares, and supplies to ensure a safe working environment and the delivery of the highest quality products possible. Work with local and international vendors to maintain a unique and aesthetically pleasing product mix.
As a Floral/Home & Gift Sales Manager, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Accountable for meeting store sales and financial targets for corporate and store level budgets.
- Develops merchandising programs supporting the goals for profitability and continued sales growth.
- Works closely with department on consistent merchandising standards, appropriate product mix, signage, training and financial performance.
- Develops promotional plans, merchandising standards and staff training for floral/ home & gift department. Creates documented SOP's for store teams.
- Accountable for all aspects of Floral/ Home & Gift products including: vendor selection, product innovation, regular pricing, promotional pricing, merchandising techniques, packaging, labeling within the "New Item Wave" process and maintain financial targets.
- Plans effective ads and promotions in line with corporate marketing themes.
- Communicates merchandising plans to stores with enough lead-time for Store Managers and Department Managers to build upon the promotional plan.
- Assists Operations and stores in achieving target inventory turns, margin percentages and shrink percentages. Develops store specific action items and measuring progress.
- Partners with Operations and Store Management to help develop staffing and workflow models for department readiness, customer service, and labor targets.
- Maintains knowledge and awareness of competitors and industry trends.
- Facilitates staff meetings to educate and implement new programs/processes.
- Builds, monitors and updates order guides and departmental forms
- Creates action plans to address and correct substandard expectations within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- A strong background in sales and merchandising and in-depth knowledge of floral/home & gift industry
- 5-6 years of experience in retail grocery or floral/home & gift industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to use various office software, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, calendaring, e-mail management and the Internet
- Create, compose and edit written and electronic materials
- Ability to work regular or irregular hours on a consistent basis and regularly travel to all Market of Choice locations, special events and other functions.
- Strong financial acumen
- Big picture awareness-able to recognize trends, target areas for improvement & short and long-term goal setting/planning skills.
