As a member of the service team, the Backserver/Roundsman will serve in various capacities and job positions depending on club business levels. The Roundsman may be asked to work as a food runner, server, or back server. The Roundsman must have a clear understanding of each of these roles. Typical duties would include preparing items for the day's service along with the food runner, running trays to and from the kitchen during meal periods, serving at banquets, providing a la carte service to members, moving tables and furniture, and setting up and tearing down events.
Acting as a Food Runner: As members of the service team, food runners work closely with servers to provide fine service to members and their guests. They prepare appetizers, soups, and salads according to tickets and run trays to the proper stations for service.
Acting as a Server: Servers are expected to provide efficient, clean, and member-driven service. Servers must have a clear understanding of the club's menus and be able to describe and sell food and wine to the club's members and their guests. They are committed to keeping the member dining rooms clean and providing the highest level of service throughout every shift with a positive attitude. Servers must always be moving with a sense of urgency and anticipate the needs of members and staff
Acting as a Back Server: Back Servers are part of the service team, providing direct contact with tables for beverage service, including serving food, and beverage refills, passing the bread, and clearing the tables at the end of service. Any request of the member is conveyed to the server for execution.
Below is an example task schedule:
Before Service:
- Make coffee & iced tea
- Prepare iced tea and water glasses. Refill coffee grinders
- Set up coffee & espresso station. Preset butter and prepare lemons
- Set-up functions (when assigned)
- Preset, salad, dessert, iced tea, and water (for functions)
During Service:
- Serve food Pass bread
- Serve coffee, tea, and water and offer refills Clear tables
- Carry trays
After Service:
- Clean working area Clean espresso machine
- Clean coffee station and bread warmers Clear & clean busser stations
- Turn off all warmers
- Pick up coffee pots & bread baskets, clean them, and return to the station. Hand wash creamers, water, and iced tea pitchers
- Hand dry all silverware from function and a la carte Formally check out with supervisor prior to clocking out
The Backserver/Roundsman will check with the Service Manager each day to see which job he/ she will be assigned that day.
Uniform: Appropriate Attire Required
The Uniform must be clean and pressed. The following is the standard server uniform:
- Provided by the Coronado Club:
- Black Eaton jacket (dinner only)
- Black vest (lunch only)
- Black tuxedo trousers
- White tuxedo shirt
- Black bow tie
- Black cufflinks and studs
- 2 Black pens
- 1 Wine key
- Crumber
Employee Uniform Responsibility
- White undershirt (supplied by the employee)
- Black socks (supplied by the employee)
- Black non-skid dress shoes (supplied by the employee)

- Hearing and speech must be sufficient to communicate with members, guests, vendors, and staff.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, vision sufficient to read, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess independent mobility throughout the club.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous Food and Beverage experience in a fine dining restaurant or club preferred.
- Food Handler and Alcohol Server Certifications as required by State and City.
- You have completed F&B Service Training.
- Efficient communication skills and speech in English.
- Ability to communicate and follow instructions.
