Part-time ESL and Citizenship Instructor

The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for part-time English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship Exam Preparation instructors for classes taught in the Boston area.

About us:

SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in the Boston area and nine other states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.

Who we’re looking for:

• Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings.
• Very proficient English speakers with strong knowledge of English and language use.
• Teachers looking to empower immigrant workers through citizenship/civics and English language education.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement lesson plans that are aligned to the program curriculum and incorporate the provided educational materials.
• Maintain and submit records of attendance.
• Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor.
• Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available.
• Perform other duties as assigned within available time.

Qualifications:

• MA in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or CELTA preferred and/or a minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data.

COVID-19 Considerations

• Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption.
• Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization

Available Classes

• Saturdays, approximately 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; varies depending on student needs.
• Classes on additional days and times may be available, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
• Start date as soon as possible.

Locations

• Boston, MA
• Other locations in the Boston area may be available in the future.

• $40.00 per teaching hour
