Behavior Technician (BT) Job Description



Behavior Technicians work with individuals of all ages to help improve their lives and their ability to
interact with those around them. The BT will be responsible for observing the individual's interactions with various environments to identify social and behavioral issues, such as self-injury or aggression. The BT will be responsible for direct observation and collecting data.

 

Responsibilities:
❏ Observe individuals in home, school and clinic settings.
❏ Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
❏ Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with client's individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
❏ Effectively communicate client progress.
❏ Maintain client confidentiality.
❏ Collaborate with treatment team including client, parents and caregivers, outside professionals.
❏ Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required training.

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with your own transportation.
  • Excellent verbal and report writing skills.
  • Strong time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • The ability to remain composed and adherent to best practices.
  • The ability to pass drug screen, background and reference checks.
  •  Begin 40-hour Coursework Requirements to sit for RBT Certification Exam.

 

Physical Working Conditions:

  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and spend time standing as well as an ability to lift items up to 50 lbs
  • Endurance to move quickly from a seated position to a standing position to accommodate the treatment plan and/ or for the safety of the patient
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity enough to operate office equipment, etc.
