About the Role:

As a Fire Watch person, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of workers and property by monitoring areas where "hot work" is being performed, such as welding, cutting, or brazing. This critical role requires vigilance and a proactive approach to fire prevention.

Responsibilities:

  • Continuously observe hot work activities for signs of fire ignition, including sparks, embers, or flames.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of the work area before, during, and after hot work to identify potential fire hazards, such as flammable materials or liquids.
  • Maintain a clear and unobstructed view of the work area and surrounding environment.
  • Be familiar with the location and operation of fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment.
  • Immediately sound the alarm and notify emergency services in the event of a fire.
  • Enforce safety protocols and have the authority to stop work if unsafe conditions are observed.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of fire watch activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of fire watch certification training program is mandatory.
  • Excellent attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and remain focused for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform basic inspections.
