WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Lift Truck Operator 2 Trainer (LTO) operates powered stand-up or sit-down forklifts and rider single or double pallet jack equipment. Utilizing the lifts obtain, transport and deposit products/ materials within the warehouse, including multi-level racking locations. Build pallets physically and systematically to fulfill customer orders with special attention to customer-specific handling requirements. Load and unload reefer and dry trailers, containers, and rail cars. All physical movement of products/ materials, including building of pallets must be done utilizing the WMS or ERP systems so that inventory is maintained, and transactions are recorded. Products are perishable, must follow proper date rotation and maintain awareness of product condition and inventory status. In addition to LTO 2 tasks, the Trainer role will train LTO 1’s and 2’s on forklift and system operation and perform peer reviews as part of the training and feedback process.

  • Conduct pre-inspection of equipment prior to use to ensure it is safe to operate; do not operate unsafe equipment.
  • Maintain work area in an organized and clean manner ensuring safety and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Contribute positively to the team by ensuring all aspects of the job are handled appropriately, and professionally. Help others when needed and maintain a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Use radio frequency (RF) scan gun equipment to facilitate completion of directed and undirected work through the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Responsible for physically rotating materials to ensure use is based on first in/expiration, first out (FIFO/FEFO)
  • Receive, put-away, move, consolidate, and obtain inventory using powered equipment and WMS.
  • Pick/assemble pallets for customer shipments ensuring product is stacked appropriately, and that any customer handling requests are followed.
  • Load and unload reefer and dry trailers, containers, and rail cars,
  • Perform location cycle counts and audits
  • Complete and maintain quality, inventory, and other job-related documentation
  • Adhere to and support company regulations and policies
  • Physically secure (“Brace”) pallets for shipment on rail cars
  • Assist with clean up and disposal of trash and recycling into dumpsters and roll-offs.
  • Assist with and sometimes lead classroom training for LTO 1’s and 2’s and primary trainer for those positions while operating in the warehouse.
  • Observe work processes and operation of equipment of those being trained and provide necessary feedback to trainees to meet standards.
  • Participate in check-ins and trainee progress reports with supervisor(s)
  • Participate in process review and setup for floor operations
  • Other duties as assigned


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED, or graduate of trade school
  • 6+ months full-time forklift position experience
  • Previous experience using a warehouse management or inventory system, which includes RF scan guns.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have certification in operating powered forklifts
  • Able to perform basic mathematical skills (such as adding and subtracting)
  • Able to read and write in English or Spanish and communicate effectively
  • Able to interpret safety, operating and maintenance documents
  • Able to write/ fill out routine reports and simple correspondence
  • Able to work the scheduled/assigned times and overtime as required
  • Able to work as a team and follow instructions
  • Able to meet or beat all performance standards
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Completion of training courses for this position relating to training, coaching, observations, verbal, written and physical communication and public speaking.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year full-time forklift position experience, preferably stand-up forklift.
  • Experience training others
  • Experience with process review and definition
  • Experience with public speaking or leading meetings
  • Prior exposure to manufacturing, preferably the food or beverage industry, with knowledge of GMPs
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Environmental exposure – cold/wet conditions (40 &degree; or below).
  • Material exposure – moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
  • Ability to lift, slide, and carry up to 50-55lbs.
  • Capacity to stand for an extended period of time.
